How can legalizing marijuana benefit America? Marijuana is
legalized in twenty-eight states. In these states, they have not only profited
it but some states have been able to lower their crime rate. I personally feel
like the government should legalize marijuana in all fifty states because it
could be very beneficial, we could potentially boost our revenue, use less
money on organized crime, and reduce the number of offenders we place in jail
for drugs.
The government spends a great amount of money on prisons,
county jails, organized crime, and the war on drugs. Instead of wasting these
funds on issues that don’t require large amounts of money, why not spend it on
getting America out of debt or providing low income families with affordable
health insurance. There are so many things America needs, and the government
chooses to use funds on things that aren’t benefiting America or its people. According
to the Youth Leader Blog, Law enforcement would be able to focus on violent
crimes instead of arresting and filling prisons with drug offenders, and the
police officers could potentially take drug dealers out of business.
Therefore, I agree with the legalization in the twenty-eight
states and would fully support the government if and when they grant legalization
in the next twenty-two states, because we could potentially profit from it and
use the additional funds where it’s needed in America. The United States and
American people could all benefit from the legalization of marijuana, whether
it’s using recreational to treat cancer or controlling the use of marijuana for
safety reasons.
